Hatchback key cylinder

Yesterday the lock on my hatchback decided to become really hard to unlock. So, in what seems like a mistake now, I gave it a small shot of a dry lock lube. Now it is very hard to turn the lock to unlock the hatch. It will still turn to lock relatively easily though.

Did I bugger the lock enough to have to take it to a dealership, or is it something that can possibly be fixed at home?

Open the hatch, take off the interior panel, take out the lock assembly, take it all apart and sand off all the corrosion. Move it all up and put it back together. I just had to do that on the #QCyaris...

Is there a write up on the forums somewhere for that? Or at least one for taking the back panel off?

You can try brake or electrical cleaner first on the lock internals.
Protect the paint.
According to a master locksmith most common mistake is lubricating
locks. Cleaning should be first .

It dawned on me that I should try the second key just to see what happened. While the lock does need a good cleaning now, the second key was able to open the hatch reliably.

It makes sense to me. The PO only used the one key and I kept using the one key. So that one key has 10 - 11 years of wear on it.
