The nose on the 2018 Yaris reminds me of a 1950's bullet-nose Studebaker.

If they just add in a 5 or 6 speed AT w/Od it wont bump the price up much, if the AT option is literally 735 dollars, whats adding another 1k onto the price of the vehicle itself? Plus if you want hyper economy, more gears is the way to go, this thing should have the customization of a mini cooper while still offering base models well equipped as its same mantra. at the same prices 14, 16, 18k. But I mean what do I know, I dont talk to toyotaGB or anything.

The rear taillights on the 2018 are also back to doing that weird, angular bulge look from certain angles like the 2012-2014 does. They just do not flow as well with the body of the car from certain vantage points compared to the 2015-2017 ones, and looks like a last-minute bolt-on that doesn't quite fit the intended design of the car. Here's to hoping that the new (total?) redesign in 2020-2021 gets it right. Last edited by Kalispel; 07-28-2017 at 01:08 PM. |

It's been removed (finally) from the head unit on the SE trim, in favor of a larger touchscreen display. No more useless, obsolete CD player.
Though, now you get a bigger screen to blind you with its glare at certain times of the day. Last edited by Kalispel; 07-27-2017 at 07:45 PM. |

Ahh, I love CDs. I still use them every day in my Yaris and my wife's car.

And for what it's worth, there are almost no Yaris liftbacks on the lots here in Portland.

I'd like to see the Studebaker hood ornament on the 2018 Yaris!

I thought of the Studebaker too. The Tucker also popped in mind:

But I'm sure Toyota would prefer if we thought of this:

A nice, proportionate side-profile on the 2018 Yaris SE (see pic below) - just like the 2015-2017 version more or less.
It really isn't a bad looking car, minor quibbles aside in terms of what upgraded features should be coming from the factory on the U.S./N.A. SE model. I just wish they wouldn't have overworked the styling on the front fascia/headlights to the degree that they did. They would have been better off changing design directions more to make the 2018+ as different from the front as the 2015-2017 was to the 2012-2014. A more-upgraded, newer look along the lines of the basic (non-gaping-mouth) 2012-2014 front design, with modern projector/LED headlights, snazzier fog/DRL light housings, etc, added would have been preferable probably to most people. Instead, Toyota doubled-down on its polarizing 'Like it or Hate it' 2015-2017 front design to an almost cartoonish degree. Last edited by Kalispel; 08-12-2017 at 04:14 PM. |

^ I agree. From the side, it is very nice looking. I preferred the previous gen front ends.
The Hawaii dealer will be getting in one SE model in November and one in December. Five month wait to order one. That's more rare than a Golf R. :) |

Those new 2018 taillights don't blend/synergize as well with various paint colors as did the 2015-2017 ones (which have heavier tinting toward the edges of the taillight). Based on what I have seen thus far in pictures, they look the best (to me) with the white, black and blue 2018's. The blue now has that U.S. patriotic color scheme going on back there. Those two-tone colors they offer now, as implemented, just look horrible and break up the design/flow of the car. Ughh. I would have rather seen some additional unique single-color choices outside of the rather boring normal color-range to liven things up a bit for the model line in the U.S. Last edited by Kalispel; 08-13-2017 at 11:14 AM. |

Yeah, the salesman was pretty surprised when I asked to see one. He steered me towards the Corolla iM and Prius C as better alternatives. They have lots of those in stock.
