Just got my first car, an 08 Yaris.
I just recently purchased an 08 Yaris Coupe (Black) and i'm loving every minute of it. I've made a few modifications already such as feet leds that glow on your feet and my new chrome pedals.. I love blue glowing things!
I've purchased a tac from glowshift and it should arrive soon in the mail, http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/tinte...ter-gauge.aspx I'm debating where I should mount it and i'm planning on using some 3m tape instead of drilling holes in my new baby.. I've also purchased a DC Sports EX-5016 which is being installed tomorrow by hires since i don't have the proper tools to do it myself. http://www.amazon.com/DC-EX-5016-Sta.../dp/B003D4O9JS I put in a new glowing shift nob and i'm planning on painting the stock rims and emblems a flat black.. I can't decide if i should pant them a dark navy blue or not. And if so what other parts on the car should I pant blue (or flat black). Planning on upgrading the stereo because the stock sucks more then the built in speaker on my HTC Thunderbolt... Possibly looking into some sort of body kit and new tires, I just don't have the money right now after purchasing my new baby. Window tint is the next on my todo list but i haven't decided the exact tints for each windows and if they are against any of the laws in my state. I don't know much about cars as this is my first car and I'm only 17. I'm glad I found Yarisworld!!! I've been inspired to make my weedwaker(wee! wee!) 1.5L 5 speed Yaris into a fast good sounding beautiful masterpiece. I'll post some pics and before after vids when I go drop off my Yaris to get the muffler added on. Proud to be one of the many Yaris owners! Last edited by E3pO; 08-19-2011 at 01:04 AM. Reason: added images of tac and muffler. |

I have a similar car. '08 black yaris hatchback with stick shift.
I would recomend garm's short shifter kit. it is awesome. if you like your shifts now, you will love them afterwards http://shop.microimageonline.com/Mic...MI-SSK-01Y.htm the tach looks good. I had an issue with our redline being at 6250 RPMs and tachs that go to 10k. I got one that only went up to 8k. i thought about getting one that went to 7k but the selection kinda sucks. if it is shallow enough, I would put it on the steering column. I ended up putting mine on the dash because it is pretty deep. I also went with a 3 3/4" one so I could see it better. one thing with the rims that I have seen and am contemplating for mine is painting the wheels black (flat or glossy) and getting chrome beauty bands for it. I can get a set of 4 for like $40 or so. it is a little flash without being over the top and it doesn't break the bank. welcome to the site. hope to see good things and take some pics (love to see the little black yarii aroud |

Hello and welcome to Yarisworld!
A word of caution though, don't go too overboard with all the mods. Be sure you do a lot of research about it before you buy anything. For instance, the tach you bought, i've done some research on here about tach's and still haven't bought one yet; but from what i've read, you're better off buying a more quality tach from Autometer, as i've heard Glowshift doesn't have as good reviews. Also, for your window tint you might not want to go darker then 20% on your windows. First because it's probably illegal, and second because I currently have 35% on all my windows and it's already really dark and it makes it much harder to see out of the windows at night. However, it is your car, so feel free to do whatever, i'm just giving you a word of caution. If you like blue glowing things then you might also like this |

I like the look of the painted wheel covers, tint, rear logo and exhaust. Very sporty.

Does anybody have any good ideas for making the lights darker? I want to make them as black as possible without breaking any laws of course. Or make them look better then just the stock lights..
Purchased a new shift kit and sway bars... Next thing to get is probably new headers? What experience do you have with getting new headers \ gas mileage? I'm getting about 32 mpg average.. My darn side mirror got theifed!! Would it be better to just get a new mirror or get some mirror material from a local autoparts? |

Here's some tail light smoke paint. http://shop.microimageonline.com/VAN...nt-VAN0011.htm
I would look up the laws in your areas about smoked tail lights first before you do anything. |

I suggest you tint the "white" parts of the tails, and then lightly tinting the red parts of the rest of the light. Makes it look much nicer.
Or.. you can get RS LED tail lights. Also, PLEASE lower that car. I've forgotten how high it rides stock. |
