Custom CAI trial and error - Toyota Yaris Forums

So I mentioned some time back I had been in the process of building a CAI out of some leftovers from past vehicles.
I finally finished it up today and spent an hour trying it out.
Turns out rumours are true, 3" intakes wont work. I didnt throw a CEL it just plain wouldnt run. The car would start, run fine for about 10-15 seconds then stumble until it stalled.

Im still not convinced 3" wont work at all but im pretty sure it wont unless 1) the stock MAF is adjusted through the ECU 2) stock MAF is replaced or 3) throttle body is upgraded.

Anyway, mission continues... heres what I wound up with.

Have you tried anything else like the 1zz TB swap?
