Broken spring in 4 year old Yaris?

So I heard this little noise in my front end the past couple of days. Today while leaving my parking garage, I heard a clank of something falling out from underneath my car. I found what appears to be 1/2 of the bottom coil on on the front driver side.

The car is 4 years old, and has 65k miles on it. I try to avoid potholes as much as possible. Does this sound right? Would this normally be covered by my 7/100k warranty?

Thanks,
Andrew

I would think the warranty would cover that. While your at it, print out the TSB on the broken control arm bolt. Maybe they'll do the full monty.

I just called them and they are telling me that it's not covered. I did get the letter from Toyota about the arm bolt.

The dealership service department told me that they have never had to replace a spring on those vehicles. I responded and said that if that was the case, could they look into replacing it as defective. I am awaiting a call back from their manager now.

Use the opportunity and upgrade the suspension, well worth it really even for DD.

It should be easy to pick a spring here or locally and fix that yourself.

I have an extra set of springs. You're welcome to the front spring or springs for the cost of shipping...

Once the dealership gets back with me to let me know if they will replace them, I can make my decision. I am a very mechanically inclined person, and could probably replace them myself.

^ How can that NOT be a warranty replacement?
