N/A Build !!
Hello guys im new on yarisworld but had my echo for a year now ... I would like to build an n/a 1nz-fe high powered close to 180hp ... I got pretty much all the bolt on for it right now c.a.i , headers, exhaust + Borla catback , koni yellow shocks on apex springs lowered 2'' with enkei rpf1 15''.... starting i would like to know what kind of management system should I use. I have seen a couple but wich one are good or bad and i would like to be able to use my power lock as well ( my only option :P ) so what i've seen so far :
-AEM EMS 4 (race car application so no pwr lock I think ) -AEM EMS 2 this look to be pretty good -Greddy Emanage Ultimate look good but piggy back (any difference between piggy and full management ??) -Link G4 Atom looks good too This is what i got until now ... so any help or suggestion will be appreciated Thank you |

Don't let the numbers confuse you, the EMS 2 offers more features than the EMS 4. At this point you will be nearly stand alone, or complete depending on how its installed, so its very possible you will start to lose some of the OE feature that rely on the canbus system. Decide if you want a race car or a street car. I don't think anyone has had success with the Greddy EmU or G4.

To go on Jasons point, if this is a street car, it'll have big time drive ability problems. Given that you have a 2004 you wont have the throttle issues the later DBW cars have.

I have no idea how one would be able to nearly double the hp put out by the 1NZ going the N/A route.

won't help. Now if you have an extra $100k around, you'd probably be able to do it.

EMS 4 doesn't technically support VVTI but it should work.
I would go EMS 2 though. |

Your hope and dreams are not in line with reality of money and laws of physics...
Granted, we are all trying to help you achieive your 180whp goal. Turbo is your best bet with 8-10 psi. Go standalone, AEM EMS is a pretty popular one with the yaris community.

180hp is going to be difficult because the heads really don't flow all that well and taper off before peak lift.
To hit the 180 "W"hp number you'll need the following. High compression pistons 11.5:1+ Headwork, porting, and cleaning up the bowl Everything in the engine coating with teflon/DLC/and anti thermal Big cams 270+ degrees of duration Spin the motor past 8k rpm Rods that can handle said RPM Long tube headers Intake Manifold and CAI Custom engine management Possible run the motor on alcohol or E85 Like I said it would be way easier to do all of that with a turbo. |

That guy was giving up at least 10 hp using a shorty header.
