Can't remove tail light. Am I overlooking a fixing?

I'm trying to remove the tail light units from my 2002 Toyota Yaris.
I've removed the central nut from the inside but the light unit won't budge. There are two other protuberances coming through the metal body work which are a plastic spigot, lower left of the metal bolt, and rubber type insert further away to the upper right.

I'm also presuming that there is some stiction with the gasket.

Even with the nut removed the outside of the unit has zero movement while the inside has a slight amount of flex.

Am I missing something?

Here's a shot from the inside of my Yaris.

Here is a shot of what the light unit looks like that I pulled from the web.

That should just pull right off. Pull harder, it's just old and "baked" on.

Hard to describe, but the best way I have found it to give them a smack with your hand. Say you were removing your R tail lamp. Pull on the inboard (rear) side of the lamp with L hand, then with your R hand give it a open hand smack while pulling R hand towards your body. Work well for most lamps that are held in w/ push clips.
Obviously don't get carried away ;)

Cheers.

MadMax,
'To give it some welly', is a British turn of phrase to express elbow grease or oomph i.e. more effort required. Whether it is related to a Wellington boot I am unsure.

Cory,
I'll go steady. I suspect that it is the gasket seal that is solid so some gentle encouragement will be needed.

Lights eventually came out, did a simple re-wire and it all works perfectly.

Thanks,
Tom.
