"Fked" my synchros

ayyyyyyy I wanna know if there's a solution to... semi... totally FCKED synchros on my 08 Hatch manual Yaris (C56 transmission I believe ??????)

my 3rd is grinding when I shift it at average-high to high rpm... and my second now grinds only when I downgrade in 2nd... at average rpm

I figured... if I wanna "fix" this,,, it might be better for me to change the whole thing... I'm thinking 6 Speed C60 (bulletproof synchros is what I heard about them.....) I race my car... and I also daily it... (yeahhhhhhhh stupid... I already know.....) is there any other options for me ? PS... I'm a DIY guy.... but transmission is my limit ... I wont open the damn thing I fear too much of f*cking it even more...

is there a better geared transmission that is 6 speed... I saw something about a C160... but... can I find this thing in canada ? doubt it !

Are you sure it's not just the clutch plate of slave cylinder getting weak? What is your mileage?

and I'm pretty sure it's the synchros... otherwise it would do that to every gears no ?

Double-clutch downshifts from 2 and 3.

(edit: guessing that should probably read "... downshifts TO 2 and 3.")

Since it's also your DD, go pick up a used trans from a recycler. Temporarily swap it into your car. This buys you time and takes off any pressure you have to get the trans done asap. You can take your time and work on the trans, replace the synchros and what not while still having a DDable car.

I agree with Trevor^

Get a used gearbox. Servicing Toyota gearboxes requires special tools and the parts can be expensive. The 2nd gear 3-piece synchro alone is $100...

The used gearboxes are around $500-800, and usually have a warranty.

The C60 project will cost a lot more since it requires new axles and frame cutting

not sure what you are saying here

but grinding appears when I UPshift to 3 at average high-high to high rpm
and only when I DOWNshift to second.... not UPshift from 1st to 2nd only when downgrading and it happens at almost any RPM

100$ WTF Really ?

C60 project will cost a lot ? what if I'm incredibly lucky and .. let's say I can find a scrapyard Matrix XRS with engine, transmission AND AXLES still in ?

frame cutting ? I tought it only was related to a notch that you remove and repatch ( I am no expert at all but I know people that are :P ) VelocityTuning for instance... he's specialized in Hondas but uhm... let's face it... our Yaris have a some things in common with an EG Hatch...

Yes, only 2nd has that expensive 3-piece style, the rest are like $40

My scrapyard C60 needed 2, 3, and 4 synchros, people tend to abuse the 6-speed. And yes the frame does need a notch, I just wAsnt sure how educated on the process. I showed all of the steps in my 6-speed swap video
