Installing New Headunit

So as the title says, i tried to install a new single din headunit in my 2008 yaris. The HU is a sony xplod cdx Gt200, it was easy to install, But once i turn it on i cant control the volume or any setting. I cannot change source to aux or fm radio. All i can do is eject the cd or listen to it at high volume.

There is where my problem started. So i reinstalled the stock toyota headunit back until i find what the problem is.
Can somebody help me out with this?

S7: Yes it has a detachable faceplate, i took it off, put it back on it and so on like twice. :( i thought it was the problem but it would eject the cd anyway.

Is this the first time you've installed a Head Unit or do you have basic knowledge and experience ?

I would power on the unit outside of the vehicle. Idk if you have a 12V battery lying around or even to your car battery just don't leave it hooked to the car for very long.

Where did you buy the unit ? If it's at an audio shop maybe they can help you out and run it to there power inverter and get the thing powered up.

Once powered on you can see if you can move the volume up and down and tap on the source button to see if it toggles through the options. Of course you will have no sound but you can trouble shoot the way you have your harness wired after that. If not then they sold you a faulty deck.

i had this Headunit it the previous car i had but it wasnt me that installed it, and i kept it once i got rid of the car. as long as experience goes with HU, i swapped the sony for a clarion and then i left the clarion in the previous car.
I bought myself a e2 connector wiring harness for yaris 07+ could that be the source of problem?

And to connect the headunit out of the car to the batt what do i need only the 12volt constent,12volt acc and ground?

Scosche is okay. If i was going to trouble shoot this i'd grab my Yellow and Red wire from the Deck wiring and put them to the Positive side of the battery. Grab the black wire from the Deck wiring and connect it to the ground - terminal of battery. You cd player will power on at this point.

Toggle through the options. And make sure the volume goes up and down. And toggle through the source features.

Be Very careful .

Make sure no other wires are exposed

Visually inspect the back of the stereo where the harness connects and make sure all the contacts are clear and nothing is bent. Check your wire harness again if anything disconnect all the wires from the scosche harness then retry the test.

After that RIP stereo.

Sorry wish it woulda worked.

I Just bought a Sony CDX-GT56UI,it was 119.98+tx so i got it for 137,67. I installed it and it works pretty good.I got volume, setting and all im supposed to have lol. I guess the old sony xplod i had before just broke on me, well its not that bad, it lasted me more than 2 years, i hope the new one will last more than 2 years even though!
