Man dies driving Telsa Model S in Auto Pilot
I would never hop into a car and expect it to drive itself. However, when they market cars with an option called"auto pilot"....shit like this happens. Would anyone on here ever want to drive a car in auto pilot? Sorry CTScott... don't get any ideas...I hope I don't see a DIY for an auto pilot install on a Yaris....

You can't fix stupid.
I have zero desire to participate in the self-driving car revolution (or the social-media/smartphone revolution for that matter). I actually enjoy driving (especially with a manual), and paying attention to what I am doing in that regard. Must be the OCD detail/control freak in me. I'm not even a fan of being a passenger while someone else is driving, and haven't flown on an airplane since I was 13 or so. |

To be fair it's quite possible the result would have been the same regardless whether or not someone was driving the car. LHT in front of a motorcycle is a common way to die for motorcyclists.
I had the exact thing happen in my Yaris a couple years ago. I swerved left into the left lane as hard as possible but the corner of his rear bumper raked down my right side of the car. To add insult to injury Prpgressive blamed me! Self driving cars is a pet peeve of mine. Right up there with humans on Mars!

From what I heard in news reports on this case was the car was driving into bright sunlight and the truck/trailer was white. The cameras that the Tesla apparently relies on could not detect the presence of the truck under the intense light conditions at that time.
