Maint Required light blinking after startup

After I started my car up the last 2 times the maint required light blinked about 7 times then went off. The car seems to be running just fine. What are the possible causes of this? Thanks.

Oil change is coming, its warning you that you need an oil change soon, after about 2-500 miles it will be a constant light instead of a blinking light, just do an oil change and your good :) no worries

There is also a sticky thread on 2007 manuals in the DIY/Maintenance/Service area of the forum.

The computer is set to start the reminder at 4,500 miles (when it starts blinking).
After 5,000 miles, the light stays on.

It wouldn't blink after just 3,000 miles.

To reset, I just...

- Select trip A (pretty sure it's A, not B. Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

- While holding down trip button, turn key to accessory mode (no need to start car)

- Continue to hold as the 6 digits clear. Done!

I think the maintenance reminder light is a nice added convenience. It's not a matter of people forgetting maintenance. Whether it's a light, shop reminder sticker on the windshield, service logs, or using the trip odometer, something is reminding you. It doesn't just click in your brain when 5,000 miles has elapsed.

lol, i know, i was kidding. the light is a great feature. i personally use sticker on the window system. i know someone who, since their car was new (04 nissan altima 3.5L) only changes his oil when he feels its dirty or looking burnt. lol, car has over 170xxxkm on it and still going. i dont know if the oil change interval is what it use to be.

I thought about that after posting. Might be something you want to get. Everyone here has seemed to cover how to do it.

Mine is doing a similar thing. It flashes right when I start it up, and it's about less then 500 miles away from it's next service, so I believe it's reminding me.

I tend to pay attention to when the next service will be anyway, but it's nice to have a reminder.
