MAINTENANCE REQUIRED!!!

Hey guys i got in my car today and the maintenance required light flashed about 10 times when i started up my car. I'm just wondering if something is wrong or if it's time for the first oil change. The odometer is a lil over 4500. I changed the oil at 3000 but i know toyota recommends every 5000. Is this just a reminder for the 5000 mile oil change? Thanks.

look in your manual, there is a way to disable the light manually if you know that you dont need the oil change.

Did the Yaris have a light especially to recall engine regular maintenance? Cause in my 2002 Echo, there's only one light and it's a "Service Engine Soon" light (Check Engine). And flashing "check engine" light is indicating a cylinder misfire problem.

I have this problem on my Echo because I have a cracked ignition coil on cylinder #2. I had to replace it cause the Echo is out of warranty (105,000 KM now). But part cost only 50$ and I replace it myself in 5 minutes.

It starts flashing on startup at 4,500 miles to let you know an oil change is coming up. It stays on after 5,000 miles. I think it's a great feature.

To reset - with the odometer in "Trip A" mode turn the ignition off - hold down the trip odometer reset button and turn the key to the "on" position (not start) - keep the reset button depressed for at least 5 seconds - you'll see several little dashes counting down and disapearing then all zeros display indicating it is reset. You're done.

(The manual says it's not in Canadian versions.)
