Need help with lowering springs

I just purchased new rims and tires today, and I really want to take the chance and lower my sedan as well. I need some expert help please.
I got some 17" rims and the tires are 205/40/R17.
My question is, how low can I go, without having any problems?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Springs are common to both the liftback and the sedan, so keep in mind that any published drop will be greater on the sedan than the liftback (because it's heavier).

so Tanabe DF210 will be more than 2", NF 210 will be more than 1.4", etc. Maybe some sedan owner can help with more specific data for you.

Hey Garm, I think the sedan is lighter by either 2 or 20 pounds. I really don't know why it gets lower tho.

OP, flip the rim around and look for the offset ("ET" and/or "+" x amount). If that number is at least 42, you're good to go as low as the Tein S.Tech's (what I have, although my offset on my 17's is only 40, I get slight rubbing on freeway dips). If it's lower than 42, you might want to stick to the more subtle drops, like TRD or Eibach.

Thanks

I'm actually looking at some Elibachs. It's suppose to drop only about 1" F/R. I'm guessing it will be safer that way, and I'll still be able to feel the difference.

I installed the nf210 on my 08 sedan, it dropped the rear 1.75 inches and 1.2 in the front. the rear drop was more than i wanted but does look good. If you buy lowering springs be sure to ask what the drop is for the sedan as most advertise the drop on the hb and the 2 are definately different.

Thanks! I end up getting the set of Elibach. It suppose to drop 1" F/ 1" R, so I'm taking in consideration the fact the for the sedan it should be a little more. Hopefully it will be all good!!!!

Holy crap he's right. I had to look it up on toyota to see it for myself.

MT 3dr yaris curb weight:2295
MT sedan yaris curb weight:2293

The auto transmission's weight isn't listed on the toyota site, but I'm guessing it outweighs both.

You wanted the rear to sit higher than the front? Or is the rear lower than the front now?

Let us know how they feel and if you rub. I'm probably gonna end up going with the TRD springs on 16s. Are you keeping the rest of the suspension stock?

drop on the sedan is greater in the rear than the hatch because of the difference in weight over the rear axle
