TMPS (again) and Vermont
I have a 2010 Yaris and have just moved to Vermont. Much to my surprise, a working TPMS is required to pass state inspection. Of course, my TPMS light is on all winter with my snow tires (and one of my TPMS sensors is broken on my summer tires, so swapping wheels isn't an option).
So I've been scouring the YarisWorld site to learn about faking out the TPMS system and have read everything that CTScott has written, and I was about to apply his modification. But one aspect that isn't entirely clear to me, is whether his mod just turns off the light (which I think 99.9% of Yaris owners are interested in), or does it also prevent any TPMS warning signals from reaching the main ECU. I'm concerned that that the VT inspection station is still going to see, via the OBDII connection, that the TPMS is reporting a fault even though the light is off on the dash. Thanks for any info and the info on this site has been really useful to me as a lurker for years! Peter |
