Thinking of buying a Nissan Kicks

Interested in the new Nissan Kicks. It's like a slightly larger Yaris, budget friendly new car with good storage and flexibility. It's not perfect, (cvt, Nissan, plastic interior) but considering the competition, we really like it. Sat in one today and we are thinking of pulling the trigger.

Anyone else like it?

Last year, I drove all the compact and subcompact SUV's before I finally made a purchase. My second favourite model was the Nissan Rogue Sport. The Nissan Kicks wasn't available then, so I can't comment on it. But, not being a fan of CVT's, I can say that I thought Nissan's CVT performed very well.

Good looking little crossover/SUV. Not sure why Toyota is unable to build an attractive one. WTF Toyota.

With that said, Nissan/Infiniti quality has always been potluck & scattershot at best, & a CVT without a launch gear (like 2019+ Corolla will have) to pick-up the part of driving that is most likely to stress/break the CVT (as well as ruin the driving experience) is not something that I would be willing to go for. I'm not sure what sort of engine it has, but I would personally avoid anything with a pure direct-injection setup, due to rampant carbon-buildup issues that require cleaning/maint every 30-40K. Pretty much all the Mazda skyactiv engines (& the one in the iA/Mazda2 Yaris sedan) fall into that category I know. Toyota was smart enough to use a combination of direct & port injection on their newest TNGA 'Dynamic Forces' engine, to avoid those costly & annoying issues. Heck, Toyota seems to be doing almost everything right, EXCEPT make their vehicles reasonably attractive.

IMO, the venerable 'older tech' Yaris engine/drivetrain seems better (to me) than most of the 'newer tech' cars available, due to the issues I mentioned above & more.

Eh, I've had the opposite experience.

When younger, I wanted to keep up with the Jones' and wanted a cool, new car.

Now that I'm older and can afford newer, better cars, my wisdom is kicking in and keeping me in my Yaris because it's the more practical option.

Different strokes, I guess.

I think nissan has zero vehicles in their lineup I would be interested in. I used to own a 2002 Sentra SER Spec-V. And that car has ruined nissan for me. My ex just bought a 18' Sentra Nismo. And it barely slightly quicker than my forte...interior quality is not as nice. I don't get nissan...
But you get what you like, if you're happy with it that's all that matters.
