check engine light, engine turns but not start

Hello all

I moved my car this morning about 5m, just turn on and off pretty quickly. This evening popped the key in, check engine light is on, the motor turns over but doesn't start up

desperation lead me to disconnect the battery for a couple hrs! ... same problem

58000km coming up... 09 manual hb 1.3

Also i went to a small petrol station and put half a tank in from nearly empty :/ but i've been driving to work and around town the last 3days

any ideas/suggestions to fix would be fantastic?

mmm maybe. i didn't check the headlights. but stereo, brakes and indicators work.

hrm. well i've only got hid's as headlight/fogs so they still turn on and heat up as usual

engine turns over rather vigerously aswell. i'll find a multimetre and check the battery voltage in the morning.

my guess is going to be failed fuel pump or ?clogged filter? maybe. hrmph. altho. not sure on how to check for broken fuel pump tho.

sigh, broken stuff isn't as fun as working stuff

Do you have an immobilizer? Have you tried the other key?

^^ naa just the factory car stuff.... unless ur in my area then i have a fantastic thing in there.. i will try the other keys in the morning for sure.

but the motor is turning over and if i leave the key on, the motor keeps trying to start and stops after a few seconds.. The main key i use still unlocks the door tho. but hmmm I hope it works. cheers (Y)

Looks clean as a whistle.
Don't mess with the "goop" on the prongs.
It belongs there.

sweet. the goop stays :)

I did put some carby&throttle body cleaner on the butterfly in hope that it would give it a lil bit of a kick start.

tried to start up again, 3 key turns and 4th one with the accelerator all the way down and started up.

so I must of put in some reallybad fuel :/

or probably the ECU has some bad/blown capacitors. Could be fuel pump as well, get that checked out.
