The facelift finally hit Europe. Gonna take some time to get the cars to showrooms but the new engline, gearbox and options seem interesting.

Surly that must mean the 1.5 is coming out with a 6spd as well ,
Cause the 1.3 and the 1.5 are the same block.

Is LtWt captavise? Were you in an accident and got another aquired brain injury?

We have had the 1.3 litre here for years. I used to have one, a 1.3 litre Manual Echo. It was just as fast or even faster than my 1.5 Auto Yaris. Very zippy engine.

My fly is zippy. And it's fast. Doesn't mean everyone wants a turn on it. Ha-Ha-HA!

Seriously though. We have just begun to tap into the power the 1.5 has. Why suddenly change over to an even smaller engine? There will be towing problems, and weight restrictions. Just put a 6-speed in the 1.5 car, lighten the engine and car a little bit, and you will have a GREAT car. Not so sure about AWD though. I haven't decided if I am for or against. Many plusses, but it's heavy and gives false feel of security.

What will the 1.3L get? I bet the loss in power will be greater than the gain in MPG.

Would the mpg savings offset the .20$/L in fueling up?

The 2009 1.3L has been seriously revised.

The engine is been marketed as a 1.33L now (funny thing the .33)

What is not funny is that the output has been increased to ALMOST match the 1.5L
The 1.3 jumped from 87hp to 101hp

That plus a new 6speed tranny and the stop/start... This car should probably be able to beat the 1.5L by a good extra 5-7 MPG with a minimal lost in performance.

i'll take the 1.3 with the 6 speed thanks, if i can eeek 49.987 out of the 1.5 with the 5spd i think i'm headed for breaking 60 mpg with the 1.3 setup, that'd be nice, though after drivng the 1.5 in pittsburgh over thanksgiving (omg the freaking hills.... i really think that in a few cases some drunk bastard painted a double yellow on a brick wall and put a street sign next to it) i might miss those three horses and the few ft/ lbs tourque. I could learn to live with it though i'm sure. As long as it comes in white.

Agh this is not fair! Much better torque, almost the same HP, and Stop/Start? Well, I guess the day we will pony more than $15k for a car like the Yaris, we may see such an engine brought here.
