The ugly ugly UGLY rim project thread. ('86 CRX wheels)

Picked up my 11th set of wheels for the Yaris this past weekend - a set of 1986 CRX OEM wheels for $50.. My plans are to polish them and rock them without centercaps.

Also picked up a nice set of 4 175/65/14 tires for $40.

Wheels are 14x5 +40 offset. Planning to run some spacers but nothing too crazy.

Those are pretty wild. I don't think I've ever seen asymmetrical wheels, other than the teddy bear ones.

These were OEM on some 85-86 CRX's. They are commonly referred to as "CRX Phone Dials" or "CRX Buttons." Pretty rare to find a set, just happened to be on Craigslist and the guy delivered them to me. (he was over 2 hours away)

They are definitely a weird pattern. It had to grow on me a little, but they're unique and will look good all shined up!

smooth over the Honda logo with some body filler then hit them with chrome paint (it always looks like polished aluminum more than chrome anyway), it would look 98347598734957834X better than no centers

^ Lol Tim, I was thinking about that this morning.

Not sure I'm even polishing these anymore, may just sandblast and paint. Loving the silver on Meteorite with this style wheel.

Threw these on last night to cruise around on for a few weeks. LOVE them. 17mm of spacers in the rear, 5mm in the front. These DO need spacers to clear the front calipers.

Yeah I'll figure something out. I was thinking black centers to produce an extra "hole" on the wheel - but may just sand and go silver.

How did you do that? Combination of hub and wheel spacers? If it's just wheel spacers, I don't know how you managed to get long enough bolts in there.

My 10mm ichiba spacers came with bolts long enough to space out ~ 15 to 20mm. There was not enough room inside the rear drum to worm them through the stud holes.

If the price were right, I'd get them just for fun.
