The power upgrade thread

I know a ton of you have liftbacks with no power like myself. Everyone knows you can't put a $1500 sound system in a car with manual locks and no security system! Its SUICIDE!!! Time for a change.

I'm heading to Summit Racing right now. A1electric.com was cheap, but I want to be able to talk to a tech about the install before I do it. We will be installing power windows, power door locks, and a security system this week with some really in depth how-to's. All of the products I will be using come from Summit Racing and ship worldwide. This way everyone should have no trouble getting power in their Yarii!

Look for a how-to later tonight!

The goal is power windows, door locks and an alarm for $350-400. I think its feasible.

Just got back from Summit Racing. Its like Mecca.

Picked up a universal 2 door concealed power window kit from Vehicle Power Accessories for $145.

Painless wiring makes things easy... switches light up and seem sturdy. The motors are what I'm excited about. These babies should go up and down pretty quick.

They didn't have a cable style power door lock kit in stock. However, they did have a really nice security system with a pager style alarm that I might get. Looks like the power door locks will come from a1electric after all. Either way, windows go in tomorrow night.

Better yet, how about I ship me, my car and this kit to New Jersey and put YOU to good use?

If it were a matter of me putting it in, it would have been in already, but I don't do much to my car other than help my gearhead buddies. Unfortunately, I'm at their mercy on this one. Gives me lots of time to take detailed pictures, though.

There is an insert that covers the void in the door once the levers removed..

Here's the kit.
