Question Daihatsu YRV Maintenance

Hi all, noobie here. Since a month or so I drive a Daihatsu YRV with a K3-VE engine. It's a very rare model so no dedicated forums for it and, since it's using an engine also used in some Yarises (Verso and 1st gen, I think?), I decided to join the club.

I have two initial questions:

- I'm almost sure about the dimesions of the engine oil drain plug - M12x1,25 - but I want to also find the sizes of the gearbox oil plug (manual transmission) so I can order some magnetic plugs before the first oil change comes (soon).

- I do my own oil changes and own some platforms you can drive your car onto and raise its front around 20 cm off the ground (I'm paranoid about jacks). Are both drain plugs positioned so, that all oil goes out when you have a slightly raised front?

Thanks in advance,
Anton

As far as I know, we do not share that engine on any platform.

Personally, I wouldn't be too concerned about magnetic plugs. Nobody around here really talks about them at all. Why do you feel you need them?

Hello, I'm pretty sure Toyota uses this K3-VE (with another model name) on some of its models. About magnetic plugs, I always used 6 big neodium magnets stuck on the sides of the oil filters of my previous car and, after 470 000 kilometers on the clock and being a company car before, it was still runing strong, so it's a kind of tradition this thing, with the magnets.. :)

Made me do a search. Sure enough, found reference to it being in the bB and something called a Perodua Myvi. Thank you for ensuring I learned something new today.

Edit: Toyota call it 2SZ-FE or 2NZ-VE (not sure which one was the more similar one) and theirs is a tiny bit different (cam, compression), but essentially the same motor, I think..? Some people say they bought Daihatsu because of this line of engines.

Yes they are the same.

Daihatsu Sirion, YRV and Terios have the same engine in as the 1.3 Yarri!

Hello again, already changed my coolant (pink/red G12+), gear oil (GL4+ 75w90), and engine oil (5w40 semi-synthetic).

I drive a lot and the next oil change is due soon, so I was wondering if I can change to a thicker oil..?

I was suprised to see TS-2 SHPD 20W-50 CG-4/SJ mineral (diesel truck oil) as the No. 1 OEM recommendation. Isn't this oil a bit too thick?

Optionally, the SCT Germany website (the producer of the cheapo MANNOL german oils I always use) lists substitutes such as 0w40 fully synth and 5w50 semi-synth. Would you agree with them? Wouldn't 5w50 or 20w50 be too thick? Or is _w50 ok for a relatively worn out engine such as mine?

Thanks in advance.
