I like the mini's. If you can afford it, go for it. It's kinda like comparing a Solara to an IS-c. :p It costs more but is a better car.

If you still owe that much on the Yaris it might be a good idea to keep it till it's paid off. The mini's will still be there. :p

Marcus... if you can afford it and you want it.... do it. Get that out of your system or you may always regret it. The mini is an awesome car and life is short. Don't be too irresponsible, but don't be so cautious you spend your life waiting for fun, but take into consideration that maintenance on a Mini is much, much more expensive. It is a premium car after all.
I would have bought a mini and might again one day, but I've had a couple nice "irresponsible" cars and I'm back in saving mode with the Yaris. Let us know what you decide. |

I had a front bumper crack and had to replace the entire thing. I wasn't getting ripped off, because my Dad works for the people who own the dealership and I actually got a discount on the price and work and all in it was over $2500 to get the new bumper, painted etc. Replacing brakes cost about 1 grand per on my old 3 series and one rear tire on my last 3 cost over $900 as it was a ridiculous 18" 255/35 rft. I don't think it's worth worrying about the worst case scenarios like my bumper situation, but do take into consideration your tires will wear much faster and cost a lot more than whatever you have on your Yaris. Everything will be more, insurance may not be. Insurance for my Yaris is the same as insurance for my 3 was. You can't compare these 2 cars. If you want it and haven't ever had a fun car like a Mini, and can afford it, I wouldn't let the extra cost deter you. If something happened to our Yaris, I would consider a Mini again. After owning a Yaris for nearly 2 years I can more fully appreciate the difference between a solid utility type car and a real performance car and the price variation between the two. Oh, and I have driven a Mini Cooper S when my car was in the shop for maintenance. It was so much fun I almost ran the tank dry in one day just driving around the city. It was a blast. |

a yaris convertible would rock, maybe one day...:http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...-8&sa=N&tab=wi
but if you're sold on the mini, I say yes go for it! but don't let your mode of transportation define you, a car is usually just a car |

Aside from the obvious handling difference, the Mini feels small compared to the Yaris. In a good way. The seating position is low, no space is wasted around the driver and if you ever consider giving more than one friend a ride, the backseat heros better have no feet.
All in all, the whole point of the Mini is different to that of the Yaris. As said, do it or else you'll regret it :) |

I owned an '05 Cooper S coupe for a while. A very nice car.
I will say that, with the 17" alloys w/run-flats, the MINI didn't deal with snow too well. If you go with any of the larger OEM alloy/tire combos, you might want to have a set of dedicated snows. The MINI (like most German cars) will have a few more squeaks and rattles compared to the Yaris. Being "a BMW in British clothes", expect to pay some steep repair costs on the MINI if you're not covered by warranty. Overall, the MINI is a great little car; enjoy it if you wind up getting one! EDIT: North American MINI is the big forum for MINI in the States. MINI2 is the big one over in Britain. Loads of info there - if a bit biased.
