You guys are being a bit rough on him. From the description he gave, he is not at fault. Unless I read it wrong.

No chance at all that pedestrian would live through a Tacoma hit, but there's at least a some chance (well multitiudes more) that they'd still be alive and kicking after taking a hit from a Yaris. Safety has a number of angles, and I'd much prefer to drive a car that gives people a chance at life. |

I was heading towards a 4-way stop. I turn left on that 4-way stop. (Take note, this is in residential area, so speed limits is about 30 -35) This was during rush hour when people are picking up their children. I see a stack of traffic up ahead because there was some 4x4 truck in the way, on top of that, I couldn't see if anyone was making a left. I merge into the right lane to avoid that traffic cause I was behind the traffic. Looking if there was no on comming traffic, I made my turn and wen't straight ahead...20mph...30mph... out of nowhere theres the 4x4 truck's nose I see and all I remember was slamming the brakes and airbag deploy. Pretty much we both didn't see each other, but what I'm being told, I had the right of way cause when your making left turns you yield to on-comming traffic, not to ay attention your kids at a corner of a street. - RemieGino14 -

*Update*
So my mom's insurance company call her back because I had told her that the other person's insurance company had called me for a record statement. Supposedly what my mom told me what the other insurance company had told her was them too, are at fault of the accident because the 4x4 was suppose to yield to on-comming traffic. So they just wanted to hear it from me. On top of that, my mom got the fax report on where the damages are, but she didn't sign the papers to give them the consent to see how much its gonna be for the damage on the car. In the mean time I get a rental car, but I need to call back the insurance and give them my story. Hopefully the rental car is stick...I'm officially scared of Autos. Btw, here are more pictures of the accident, since I only gave one. Picture 1: The Debrie Picture 2: Side picture of the car - RemieGino14 -

I'm also in a rush and tend to speed all the time and had to develop some defensive habits. One of them is, if you're going through an intersection in which your view is obstructed, expect the worst.
If I'm speeding and have a clear view of all the traffic before the intersection, I'll still scrub down the speed a little (and a lot if there's a police cruiser near by) with my foot hovering over the brakes through-out the intersection. It's the intersection that's the biggest worry. |

i'm still at a loss as to how an auto had ANY doing to your wreck other then a truck pulled out in front of you. If you blame it on the tranny then you're a dumbshit.

Well think of it this way, I don't know if this is what he is trying explain, but in a manual, if in a panic you let your foot off the gas but do not brake, the car will slow down quite fast and probably stall.
An automatic, though, will happily keep going straight ahead, you need to brake for it to slow down and stop.
