Why, a plastic version is available here for $6.00 at CTC. They're available in three sizes.
I have three. One for each of our 2 vehicles and another from a vehicle gone by.
Works well for the Yaris as the filter is difficult to grip being somewhat recessed alongside the crankcase.

^^^ I find my Canadian Tire plastic filter wrench slips. Especially once it gets a little bit of oil on it (inevitable). Pretty sure I got the smallest size. Anyhow, I find putting a rubber glove between the wrench and the filter gives me the grip to seat the filter properly.

The Klann wrench cost more but I figure it's a lifetime investment, no slipping or rubber glove needed also. JMO

Interesting,
Mine fit so tight that I often have a fight to get the old oily filter out of it. Draining then beating the filter several times around it's base perimeter is the found solution.

Probably due to the filters we use...? Slightly different grips on them. I use Napa Gold.
