can i make 10 years car shining again?

I am wondering if I never wax my car for several years, say 10, can I make it shining again? I didn't wax my Yaris since I got it in 2006, and it looks OK now. If it is ok to stay lazy, I will only wax the car before selling it. Thanks for your kind advices in advance.

After 10 years you are going to need to do more than just wax. Right now you have pollutants that adhere to that unprotected surface (most unseen by the eye) that are eating away at the factory clearcote. When it's gone there is nothing to protect the colorcote. The whole idea is to get the rain etc water off the surface as soon as possible. A nice smooth shiney surface aids alot in doing so. But to answer your question...yea you can go without any kind of appearance maint. as long as you want. Don't expect much on trade or re-sell value if the new owner has to deal with replacing paint, weathered rubber and plastic trim.

Added....if you can't or won't, why not take it to a detailer who can clean it up and put a nice sealant on it that lasts for awhile. There are several in MD.

Sure - but it would be tons of work. Spend a couple of hours at least one day per year cleaning and waxing and save your self days of work and increased cost to restore the finish in the future.

Thanks a lot for your detail information and suggestions. I might go with a clay bar plus sealant service once a year. Better than nothing. Thank you guys again.

If you're lazy like me and don't want to spend tons of time with paint upkeep, I suggest you use a sealant. It's what I use, and it lasts much longer than wax.

I wake up one lazy Sunday afternoon. Get a bucket of beer and a chair out to the front yard, relax the rest of the day by putting the wax on one part of the car at a time. . If friends come along, hang out with them for a while, there is no rush, got all day so take it easy. XD

Creating a smooth surface by claying and removing the all imperfections as possible by polishing. then go to wax and paint sealent.
