Constant power, always on, sidemarker lights w/ switch...

anyone done this yet? i suck at all things electrical and was wondering if anyone spliced in a wire to the side markers for switched power, to keep the sidemarkers on with the headlights (and still blink when the turn signal is on)?

I do believe it's a single filament bulb. It can't do two things at once.

Try it and let us all know,

Chuck

If you didn't suck at things electrical, you could design something with relays.

well since it is originally designed to blink only, it's obviously a single filament. obviously, you would change it to a dual filament bulb. i'm more concerned with the wiring and/or relays as mentioned above.

Hey Edison, Why not pop it out and see if it can accept a dual filament bulb. I believe what I've read here is you replace the whole freakin' housing when it blows. I'll look it up but I think that light pod is one unit.

Ok, did the leg work for you, (and I do appreciate those who have down the leg work for me when I was lazy)

Use the search feature and type in ...Side Marker Lights,
there is a thread about putting in L.E.D. lites...It shows how you have to cut that housing in half to get to the bulb. Chris I believe is the one doing the DYI and he ordered brand new lights to do the conversion. I don't know if you can get a dual filament bulb in there.

Hey, knock yourself out and when you come too and accomplish what you set out to do....share it with us in a DYI.

Geeeshhhh....read into it. I said "when I, (me not you) was lazy." When you are out searching for parts for this project of yours, roll the window down and get some fresh air.

Sensitive...Oh by the way.....did the info HELP you out?

I just reread the postings and I see you snapped at Violin too so now I know it wasn't me that set you off. Looks like the whole world is doing that to you.

And if you thought you could come to a "PUBLIC" forum and not get needled, you need to take a few weeks and reread all the forums and threads here. It's a constant beat down. Better get your hardhat and some safety glasses if you plan on hanging around.

Chuck, Chuck, Chuck,
Jerks can join public forums also! So, Reznunt, have you knocked yourself out yet! Great advise Chuck, "...knock yourself out..."- simply hilarious.

You provide the guy great info, then basically treat him like an idiot: priceless

I thought that IS what we did. I guess we were supposed to know that he had already started to work on this.

I guess this is the "Can't we all just get along" part. We tried helping, tossed out our 2cents, it just didn't work. I hope someone can figure out the relays and such needed. It would be a nice mod.

I tried this with a cross-bed toolbox I had in a truck of mine. I had the 3 red-light marker bar and wanted it to come on as a 3rd brake light but no luck. Then I tried to rig it where the two outside lights would come on as turn signals but that was a nightmare.

To much math for me. I'll sit in the back of the class here, take the zero and then copy off the smart kid.

forget it guys. i didn't know i had to be part of your circle to ask a simple question. honestly, if this is the way it's going to be here, i will get my hard hat for this forum. thanks for the advice.

if i complete this mod myself, i WILL post a DIY for others that are interested. also, i'll refrain from asking any more questions that others might think i can find with the search button or i can post a disclaimer before each of my posts noting that "I already used the search feature but I didn't find any useful info." thanks for all of your help and input.

wish me luck. peace

Like I said earlier... LIGHTEN UP.

He's only fucking with you, and the more you reply back with your tail tucked between your legs, the more shit you caught.

I think you need to show us you can sling it like the rest of us just fooling around, and tell Check where to shove his advice!

BTW you can do this pretty easy with a relay... not a regular everyday realay... go to go to radio shack a rell them what you want... you want a relay that the switch stays closed instead of open and that solve your probem right there
