Turning over the reins

That's my daughter behind the wheel. First day with her G1 license. She had just turned 8 when I got this car. Time flies too f'n fast.

Well you have to get old...might as well keep the car all in the family.

My oldest is getting his full license next weekend. He's spent some time behind the wheel of the Yaris, but is getting a '00 New Beetle for his first car.

Just remember these two pics that had been posted back in our 2008 GTA meet threads. Never really counted on the car still being in the family 7 years later. Yaris reliability

Makes me think of how my first car was a hand-me-down from my pops. Just so happened to be an '86 Toyota Corolla FX hatchback. Pink Floyd wasn't kidding when they said ten years have got behind you.

^^^^^ This.

When I first got my blue Yaris, my little cousin (who inspired my Yarisworld screen name) was 4, and she loved to climb around inside my Yaris and to open and close everything. She just turned 13. When she turned 9, I thought....she's now, from a 'yearly marker' perspective, closer to her 'Getting her DL birthday' than to the day she was born.

I have also turned the reins to my sedan over to my son last year!
He did not even know how to drive stick that well.
My wife was reluctant to let him have such a small car but it is perfect for him, great gas mileage and fun to drive. Still looking for a rear sway bar though.
He is in love with the car. His girlfriend gets jealous over it!

You might be surprised lol.

I don't plan to get rid of mine. I'll obviously get a new car at some point, but I intend to keep the Yaris, even if only as a backup.

I doubt my step daughter will want my Yaris. That's fine for me as well, since I dig it too much. 7 years later, some abuse to it, and it still runs like new. Great little car!
