2007 yaris sedan aux jack...

i have a 2007 canadian yaris sedan, with the canadian only radio pictured below. i've added the toyota aux jack, 86190-53010 to the factory location in the right hand centre console, which also is pre-wired for the jack, you just have to plug it in. the aux jack was a dealer installed option at the time.

the canadian-sedan-only-radio has no aux button, but from what i understand the jack has a switch in it that turns on/off when you plug the 3.5mm cable in. when i do this, nothing happens... do i need a specific cable or anything?

Just a guess, but try pushing the DISC button after you have plugged in your aux device. Some of the OE radios have a button labelled DISC/AUX and this is the way you switch to the AUX input.

If that does not work, you may have to tear down the center console and see if the other end of the AUX wiring is even connected to anything.

yeah, no go... i've tried pushing it, holding it, etc... nothing.

i'm going to have to take out the radio, see what's up with that little grey plug, and where it goes. strange. the aux jack is a factory accessory, and the sedan is even wired for it. but how does it work!?

it's a blank spacer, looks to be where a button would potentially go...

Do you have the part number for that headunit? You might need to pull it out of the dash to see if the wire is stuck in to anything. I remember stock cars of our years were prewired to have a stereo but some did not come with a headunit as standard.

The reason for the part number is that we might be able to google the back side of it to see if it even has a slot for the aux cable to go into. And you wouldn't have to pull the HU out.

ok, so i finally got a chance to take a real look. the radio is model 08600-01000

now, my 2007 canadian sedan had the 4 pin grey plug already factory installed. it has 4 wires, 2 red 1 green 1 gray. that plug goes up the harness to the radio and connects to this white plug with the same 2 reds 1 green 1 gray wire, plus a white wire as well, which is already plugged into the back of the radio. i tried unplugging the connector, replugging it back in, etc. still nothing, no matter what button or buttons i press on the radio.

it's bizzare, the yaris sedan in canada had the jack as an accessory. the harness and plugs are already there, plugged into the radio. so when you install the jack and plug it in to the gray connector, then what!?? how does it work? especially since i've read on here others with the canadian sedan did the same thing and it just works...

Yeah, looking at the front of this, I don't see a button to select aux as input source.

Well I fixed my AUX jack issue...



Once connected and installed, the aux input works perfectly now, just like that. Sounds a heck of a lot better now, too.

I have been wanting a minor upgrade to my stereo also. I have the AUX but I mainly just go OTA Radio. The upgrade would be mainly for bluetooth telephone.

I recently upgraded the stock head unit to a Pioneer double-din touchscreen. For only a couple hundred bucks it has everything except on-screen navigation. Highly recommend it for the money if you don't need on-screen navi.
