Talking My First Tank = 43 MPG (!)

@ 368 miles, I had 3 bars of gas left... I took it all the way to 429 (and then circled the parking lot near the gas station to get it a nice even 430)... Put in 9.96 gallons of gas to the first click.

- 2011 Yaris
- 5 Door 5 Speed
- Winter Package
- Power Package

- 65 mph MAX
- neutral to all stop lights, stop lights, up ramps, down ramps
- shift @ 2800 RPMs
- windows down, AC on the highway (on low only)
- no drafting (not worth the risk safetywise and paint chips)

dude that is awesome. I would say that you may want to leave it in gear to take advantage of DFCO but other than that you are doing good.

I am hoping to do better. been a while since I had a stick and really like the feel of around 4k rpms so maybe if I give that a rest I can do better.

first two tanks yielded me 41.5 so far. I still can't complain.

actually it does, depending on the distance. DFCO sucks speed down rather quick, while neutral tends to allow the car to coast a lot further.

In general driving neutral will do better than DFCO unless you are driving down the side of a mountain every day.

i coast with the motor off, so i use no fuel & get the distance i need

one part in my route home i coast 2.8 miles with no motor...i guess that means my yaris is a pzev!
