let me ask you guys this. when i put the mobile 1 in there i just drained what was in the tranny and filled it back up with mobil 1. What makes a drain and flush a drain flush. When i change my oil i always run the engine flush through there for 5 mins then drain everything and replace with new oil. Anything flush like that for mt?

i have used GM synchromesh gear oil on Hondas ( B ad K series)when they would have a similar grind and have had very good results. In PR people also use it for E90 M3's since the rear end whinds like crazy and I also quites it up. As far as weight I do not remember what I used.

yeah this is what is use before i change my oil, you add it to the crankcase, turn the car on, let it circulate through the engine for 5 mins, and then just do a normal oil change. Is there anything like this for MT, or is it really just a drain and fill

amsoil it ..worked for my celica..itll take a month for the oil to settle though so if you go synthetic give it time. it will still grind right after but give it 1 to 1.5 months thats how long it took for my celica gears to shift smoothly and it was grindless even after i traded it 2 years after..

Mobil 1 gear oil works fine on my car? but, right now its redline MT90. Not much difference?
However, i still recommend Redline MT90 or Toyota (OEM) i dunno what theirs called. I void warranty all the time.

I had that dreaded gear grind last year. Leading up to that time I had the TRD quick shift installed, and Redline MTL gear oil which replaced the stock oil.
At first it would only grind shifting from 6000+rpm in second going into third. Then the grind got worse, coming down to 4000+ rpm. At such point it was so repeatable I took it back to the dealer. It probably was a syncro problem, they didn't say. They apparently knew what was wrong with it without taking apart the gearbox to see, because they said they'd order the parts required to fit it, which took about three months. The car was then laid up for about three days. Since then I'm on the stock factory oil or whatever they decided to fill it with, and the TRD quickshift is no longer on my car. No further grinds, although I'm told this gearbox is rather weak anyway.

I had the same 2nd-3rd grind and its very noticeable in my car for some reason. I changed out the factory oil with some new regular 75w90 and it seems to be better. gl

I put Royal Purple 75w-90 in. Now I have a grind at very low speeds downshifting into 1st, after the car has been driven for awhile. I am going to change it to Redline MT-90 this weekend.
