Thumbs up 2017 Yaris L Cruise control

Super simple to install cruise control on a 2017 Yaris.

Got my control stalk from Amazon.com $19. Have seen even cheaper, after I got mine coming.
Released the three springs holding the airbag on, didn’t disconnect anything.
Laid it on top of steering wheel.
Screwed the stalk on with the included screws.
Popped the airbag back on.
Turned on the key and pushed the on/off button.
IT WORKS. !
Took Dremel tool to side cover that goes around the stalk.
Total time 4 minutes... Yes you read that right. To get cruise control on and works flawlessly !
And I didn’t spend $229 for a Rostra cruise kit (stalk and a few wires that you won’t need)

Not to nitpick, but I hope you unhooked your battery terminals and cleared residual electricity by waiting 10 min. or so and depressing the brake pedal. Stray electricity and air bags aren't something to mess with.

In any case congrats on your new cruise control. When I installed mine it really redefined my driving experiences on the interstate. No more sore ankle.

No. I usually don't unhook a airbag depending on what I am doing. If I were to unplug the airbag. then yes. But since I was just sitting it out of the way, no.

Thanks. I'd consider this for my 2017 L. Where are the springs exactly and how to you get to them? (I'm not the handiest guy, so a pic would be great, if possible!)

Also, do you have a link to the stalk you bought at Amazon?

Thanks again!

See the thread 2 below this titled "DIY Cruise Control for 2012 Yaris - Good News!".

There are diagrams and pictures of how to undo the clips to remove the airbag. This is also the horn button, so either disconnect the battery or remove the horn fuse before you try to reinstall the airbag. It just pushes back on, but will sound the horn while you are pushing on it.

If you have a manual transmission, there is also a switch that you will need to add to the clutch pedal. This cancels the cruise control any time you push the clutch pedal, so the engine doesn't rev sky high when changing gear.
