hey guys, my 115mph run on youtube right before my car turned 300,000 miles, was done on spark plugs with 100,000 miles on them. I've since put in new plugs. so, I'm gonna do another topend run and post it on youtube. this time it should be more impressive. thanx for the support!

any fluid leaks?

when are you thinking of doing the timing chain?

coolant changes?

I hope your brakes aren't really 'mirrored' as you said...that indicates glazed rotors....heated and cooled too rapidly....
^^that should be your next big maintenance operation (replacing pads/rotors)

congrats on the milestone btw hope you get it to at least 500k

nope, no fluid leaks.

nope, never flushed coolant.

no intention of ever changing timing chain.

nope, rotors are not glazed. rotors have not even begun to wear and has no lip on the edge. so, I'm only changing brake pads and inspecting rear drums just in case, and replacing brake shoes. all with Toyota OEM parts, of course!

Just wow...

I think you should honestly send some info to Edmunds/Consumer Reports...
Shows them for rating our car so low, when it can outlast and outdrive any small car that we have seen as of yet!

Just be careful with these high speed runs! For safety's sake and if you're caught, you could lose your license (very bad since driving is your job). State laws are different, but 115 mph could even land you in jail for a short time.

Just some friendly advice.

So, how far do you really see yourself taking your Yaris (in miles)?

500,000 perhaps?

It's the equivalent of 3 1/3 cross country trips each month or 10,000 miles each month (which is as much as many people drive in a whole year).

I'm planning on taking it to 999,990 miles! and the other 10 miles, I'll save it for Toyota of North America.

When I did my 100,000km checkup, the service guy reported that my brakes was glazed and advised me machine it. I felt it would have been a waste of money since real world performance was still at 100%. Perhaps it's because the Yaris doesn't need a lot of braking power or brakes are over engineered or service guy is trying to BS me out of money. Whatever the reason, I'm not going to waste good money on useless preventative measures.

I'd take the new Yaris. The engine is probably going to work amazingly until one day something cracks. Metal, especially aluminum can only handle a specific amount of cycles before it fails, especially if you're constantly pushing it to the max. Do yourself a favour and get fresh engine that you know will do 300,000 miles instead of waiting for the inevitable.

Also, the reason why the current car is working well, is because of the maintenance and the constant highway driving. A new Yaris will behave like the old one, once you've got it broken-in for the highway/high-speed.
