Drove home from work with a damaged belt and...

I just supercharged my car and the belt on it was damaged and I really needed to get to work so I drove with it thinking it should be fine. Got to work and 1/4 ribs snapped and peeled off on the road somewhere. I just drove back and half way I just got this feeling and load and be hold I hear a squeeling from the engine so I pull over and there is oil all over the passenger side.

I have no idea what just happened so if somebody can please shed some light. I drove with the supercharger on off.
And the belt is still in once peice.

Rich

Blitz supercharger. Belt connected to crank, water pump and alternator. I don't have a/c.
I honestly have no idea how I blew oil. I'm gonna jack the car up later and see if I can source out the oil. Maybe it came from the dipstick column as I let it dangle after the install. That's the only thing I can think of.

I'd post pics but it won't really help much. It's all over the entire passenger side(where the pullies are) and the back where the ecu is mounted. Also a small small puddle where the plastic under panel is(passenger side as well) and the oil is rolling down and collecting on the oil pan nut where it drips.

Post up some pics. I'm sure we can diagnose.

Not to preach, but NEVER drive with a damaged belt. All sorts of bad things can happen.

Yeah I know. And I just realize that I forgot to top off the coolant that spilled during the install. But if I were to go into the red zone of the oil temp wouldn't a light come on the dash? I guess that's some more info there...could be overheat, and I found the 1/4 of belt that I thought fell off on the road when it snapped. It was on the control arm of the passenger side and a thread's worth is wounded on the crank pulley. I just topped my oil off a bit and started up the car.
The temp "cool" light went off meaning car is at optimal temp and I get it a few revs and no oil is leaking.

Let me know if you need more pics or pics of the car at a certain spot.

Check my dipstick for level or connection. But I will do just that.
Just checked the dipstick area. It's ok. The front of the engine has no oil. The mess is all in the back.

You could wash it off. Then drive it again then check where its coming from. You did mention something about the belt wounding up around the crank, maybe its damaged the crank seal.

looks like the crank seal is leaking, how tight did you make that SC belt? you could have possibly destroyed your crank seal by over tightening (which also means the bearing inside is trashed)

I wiped the oil off to the best of my ability. I'll take the fuel controller off and clean it manually. If you look at the pic up top of the crank you can see a thread wound up. That's pretty much it. The rest of the 1/4 belt was laying on the control arm.
I actually didn't put that much tension on the belt for fear that it would snap.
Like right now it's not leaking or anything. I'm changing my oil and topping off the coolant for fear it might be overheat.
I had to 2 spacers to make mine align properly and I drive a 08 LB.

Ok I just changed the oil with silky smooth amsoil and I found the leak. Well not pinpointed but it's definitely coming from the Crank. The oil makes contact with the Crank pulley and that is how it's sprayed it all over the back. The rate that it drains with the car on at idle is 1 drop every 2-3 seconds. Am I royally screwed? I think I'm gonna bring it to the dealer tomorrow or do you think I can fix this? I'm gonna take off the Crank pulley tonight and see if I can pinpoint the exact part.

Well... from all accounts it would seem to be that crank seal, but I doubt the dealer is going to fix it for free under warranty work. As much debate over the law that protects people who add mufflers and still need transmission work, they have a pretty good case against you for not trying to fix that leak.

Good news is removing the engine is fairly easy... if you are capable of the s/c install you are a cherry picker and a good impact away from dropping the engine

Yeah, gonna drop the car off at the dealer in a couple hours. Will see what they say about the crank leak. Other than that, the supercharger install went smooth and wasn't too bad at all.
