1nz-fe high compression setup [build]

Hi everyone, I'm Ben from Singapore

I'm driving a Vios NCP42, which is powered by the same 1nz-fe engine as the Yaris (well, except for the head which is different, as I learnt the hard way)

I'm currently building a high compression setup for my car and I'm writing about the build on my blog, POWAA Garage.

just felt like sharing it with everyone, and see if anyone has comments, questions or even better, recommendations for me. This is my first engine build, so I still have a lot to learn!

here's the link to the first part of the build:

!!-------------------------------!!-------------------------------!!-------------------------------!!-------------------------------!!

Part 2 is out!
We bring the engine together! Enjoy the read:

Part 3 will come out soon!

I'm still writing the rest, so more to come!

@admins, I am not making any money from this, only burning it all down in this engine haha! If it is inappropriate for me to share this here do let me know and I'll take it down right away. Thanks!
It will be interesting to see what, if any, luck you have with the ARP stud kit... We found on our car we could not use them. The nuts are so tall they completely block the VVTi passage, making it impossible to put the solenoid in. They also hit the cam trigger wheel on the JUN camshafts.

Seems pretty clear these were never properly test fitted when ARP designed the kit.

@Crazylegs
Thanks man! appreciate the support

@Jason
we indeed had a few issues with one of the bolts, the one on cylinder 1 admission side was messing things up as you said, so we had no choice but to leave the stock one for this bolt...
Nice Yaris BTW! where do you race it?

The most disappointing part about the fitment issue is ARP does not want to acknowledge it.

We run the car in SCCA Club Racing. Just got back from Daytona for the SCCA National Championship Runoffs where we got to race on the Rolex 24 course. Got the pole, but finished second in a NASCAR worthy pileup at the end:

I'm enjoying the blog man. What did you use to increase the compression? Did you go with a longer piston rod or shave down the cylinder head?
