!! Speedometer Needle Problem !!!

I was playing with the speedometer needle while i opened the cluster guages cover for cleaning, when i placed the needle back to 0 after driving i noticed it went below the 0 reading. Now I've heard from someone that the best thing to do is to take out your Cluster guages wire plugs and fix the needle back to 0 and plug the wires back in and the problem will be fixed, I'm scared of doing it because I think taking it out would cause some big mishap so, can anyone tell me if it's ok to do that ? And will my speedometer's reading be effected in anyway ? Thanks.

what you have to do know is open it back up.
Spin the needle to the right untill you feel some resistance and push a little further.
then spin the needle back and you should feel some resistance before you hit zero.
push it till its exactly at zero. you may hear clicking, but don't worry its not breaking.

Move the needle to zero with the ignition on. The speedometer is little servo motor, and if you watch it, when you power on the cluster the needle moves a tiny bit, so if you adjust it after it calibrates itself, the needle will be in the correct position.

Sadly it didn't work, I tried it twice.

If moving the needle with the car running didn't work, then you may have damaged the little servo motor that drives the needle.

Oh, well the needle works though. It's dropped all the way down. Sorry for going off-topic but I needed to ask, if I go for the odometer that comes with the tachometer will it be just plug and play or, will I have to do something to it in order to make it work?

It's plug and play as long as you match your ABS or no ABS configuration.

Another trick is to use a GPS or similar device and set it to "55" while driving. I had to do that on my truck because it did the same thing, and on occasion would stick on certain speeds.

Helps to have a friend or girlfriend do this though :p

just buy an ultragauge. digital readout. done.

I am not a big fan of the speedo on the yaris. the ultragauge made it so much easier for me. it plugs into your obd2 port and is as accurate as your computer in your car. no adjusting, no calibrating, plug and play.

Bought it a while back, didn't get time to post. Had it shipped from Japan, it came off a G-selection Belta (the one with push button start and climate control).

It was plug and play.

P.S: Pardon the Pakwheels.com watermark, we have a Belta thread over there.
