Exclamation Cool gadget with some cool potential

Here is what I found on Thinkgeek.com:
http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/ele...e632/?cpg=142S

This thing has some cool potential that could be incorporated into the Yaris.\

What if we could hack it to use it with the Yaris cruise control, let me explain. We incorporate it into the front bumper so it can read the speed of the vehicle in front of you and control the cruise control, instead of using the speed sensor of the Yaris, this would make the Yaris trail the target car at the same speed, we can then modify it so it keeps a safe distance. The range of this device under ideal conditions is half a mile. I think it could be done

What do you think?

One of my favorite shirts that i have...not to hijack the thread Pavel:

Your idea isn't a bad one. You would just need to find someone who would take on the legal liability and fund the project as well as take the time to develop it. But other than that you should be good.

Here is the problem that I have with laser and K-band cruise controls. (mercs, Infinity, Lexus)

I cant stand them. My #1 annoyance is the Infinity QX4. They use Laser guided cruise controls. The reason why I cant stand them you ask? well its driving my V1 radar detector nuts. Every time there is one behind me it keeps on setting of my radar and after a few miles down the road you can only imagine what I want to do to that person.

Got my son a black set for Christmas. I looked at them last year for him (and me) but wouldn't get them because it seemed a little steep for some magnetic balls. I got the package in yesterday and it still seems a little steep. Oh well.

yeah well it is the same for the most parts in the States too...I remember I was pulled over when I was 18...I think it was in 93. It was a Canadian MountMe and he knew I had one cause mine was cheap and didn't have the V2 detection so he made me put it on the road in front of my car and drive over it. That really sucked, but it was a lot better than paying the 250 dollar fine.

Best bet is to just plain not need a cruise control - do it yourself with the "old MkI eyeball".
Less to go wrong, plus it keeps you awake. .

I think you would need one in the rear as well to be sure you don't bump into someone back there. Other than that, it sounds feasible!
