MT-90'd the gearbox today...

I replaced my gearbox fluid with Redline MT-90 today. It was simple...required no jacking of the car and the quantity was exactly 2 quarts. My impressions after a short drive is that...it's not much different but certainly noticeable. All gears appear a touch easier to engage, most of all first, second and reverse. Overall, a good modification for $25.

MT-90 working its magic so far . Better cold shifting and no clunk into reverse . Found that when 1st made the switch to MT-90 that it's good to work through all the gears and gets bit better over time .

Awesome...I figured it'd only get better as I went for a short ride.

let us know if the shifting improves and the clunk into reverse gets less or goes away over a period of time .

Actually went for a drive today and noticed that the shifting is much improved. Much smoother shifts and the reverse clunk is gone. It just seems to slide right into reverse now.

praise the bottle of REDLINE MT-90 . You'll find frigid morning shifts to be easier than the stock gear oil and gets smoother much sooner than the conventional . No grinding when downshifting , especially down to 1st . . Enjoy

I have never downshifted into first gear but I wanted to update this thread because the difference in the gearbox is worth ranting about. By switching to the MT-90....shifting if phenomenal. I can't stress enough how good of an upgrade this is. Reverse is butter and so are all the other gears. It just seems to get better every time I drive.

I changed it with another dose of the MT-90 at 10,000 miles as a flush , that way would be all synthetic . Probably change it again at 60,000 miles or so . That may be the AMSOIL MTG , also GL-4 and 75w-90 .

Question

Hey all,

I have my car scheduled for it oil change for Monday morning. My shifting has gotten really rough and hard to put into gears. I told the guy last time but he basically ignored it. Now it's worse... so I made sure when I called them that they completely understood that there is an issue with my shifting and I want it fixed. I also mentioned the guy dismissing it the previous time. So I really don't know a WHOLE lot about cars... enough to get around. From this thread, I gather that the gear box has separate oil that needs to be changed to keep shifting smooth? Should I mention this to them? But I don't want to say anything if I don't know what I'm talking about...
