Toyota Yaris 1.3 SR 2007 Start Up Problem

Hey guys.
I have a Toyota SR 1.3 2007 model which is fitted with the push to start control system.

Recently the car has not been responding to the wireless key and will no unlock or lock the car and when I enter the car and push the button, the only light that comes up is that of the key. It will not turn over and nothing in the car will work.

However, this is the catch. If I leave the car alone long enough, the car will automatically start to respond to the key and will work like normal. This has happened 3 - 5 times in the past month.

Can anyone help?!?!?!

Thanks

Have you tried replacing the battery in the key?

If it was happening frequently I would say that it was an issue with the receiver in the car, but with it being so intermittent, I would almost question if it is environmental (RF interference). Does it always happen when you are parked at the same location?

Yeah it always happens in the driveway but I cannot figure out why. I have had the car for nearly a year now and it had never caused a problem before. What would cause an interference?

By radio regulations nothing should broadcast continually on the band that the remote operates in, but you never know if someone is experimenting with something that is out of spec.

If it happens again, try holding the key right up against the start button as you try to start the car.
