When I broke mine in I got about 40 US mpg on the first tank, and the 2nd or 3rd I got 44. I drove like an old grandmother though because that was when gas was ridiculous and I wanted to see what this thing could do. Mileage really is all about the driving habits. I now get from 35 - 40 depending on what mood I am in.

The best I ever got on a road trip was 51 MPG from Reno to SF, but that was going from 4500 ft elevation to sea level-so mostly down hill, but I sure loved it. Even when new I got 42MPG and that's pretty much what I average now with 17K miles on it.

I had similar results. The more I drive, the better the mileage gets. Today I filled up and got almost 37 MPG. That was after driving at 70 MPH with my cruise control on. I also have an automatic.

Just to update...

I filled up again and got just over 38 MPG. The only modification I have made was to put a K&N air filter in and use Lucas fuel lubricant. I was thinking about putting some Bosh quad spark plugs in, but waiting for better weather.

I've got 2 bars left before empty and I've just hit 325 miles if I remember right...is the Yaris tank 11.1 gallons? If so I'm planning on getting about 380+ miles. So that puts me at about 34.2mpg or so on my first tank

But this being my first automatic in a while I often find myself going 80mph without relaizing it. Whereas with my Mach 1 I'd usually ride at about 2000 rpm in 5th gear. I was actually getting about 25+mpg with that...anyways I guess my point here is that I could probably get a lot better with the Yaris if I was only doing 70 as opposed to occassonally touching 80mph

I rarely get over 33 unless it's mostly highway miles.

I get 26-28 mpg city miles. I'm disappointed.

That's even worse than MY mileage; that's amazing!!!

Are your tires property inflated? All the junk outta the trunk???

I don't yet have 5k miles on mine; an hoping for improvement as time goes on.

And I drive as carefully as I can without being absolutely ridiculous about it...

I got 38 mpg from jump. I got over 40 driving like grandma. I still average about 38. I drive about half road/hwy and half freeway about 40 miles per day....to work. I also keep my freeway speed around 60.

My first few tanks were around 32. As I neared 10K miles, I got up to 36 average. Now at 18K miles, my gas has dropped to 29-30 average. I can't figure out what's happened. This came just after I put on 17" wheels with high performance tires.

I get around 32 mpg I drive mostly freeway sea level to around 2500 feet and back around 110 miles a day and do about 80 to 85
I did try 70 max for a tank and the mpg went up to 38
So if your looking for great miles drive like grandma.
Anything over 42mpg I assume your going 65 or less..
But the way I see it anything over 31 mpg is great

I've been averaging 36-38 for the few tanks I've put in so far (1,600 miles). Pretty much 60/40 highway/city.
