more comfortable front seats
does anyone know if there are any seat upgrades for the yaris hatchback? I'd really like some front seats with a little more lower back support.

get the Yaris RS seats, or shop for an aftermarket seat that feels good to you.
Advice on particular brands/models isn't helpful because it's a personal decision.

Yes the RS seats are nice. My personal choice is Recaro. I have had a few sets before and some of the slightly older models have great support.

yeah these seats really suck there is now lower back support its all mid back. I'm thinking about taking the cloth off and adding some padding. I heard ross tech makes some sort of lumbar thing that goes in the seat but I'm not so sure I want to spend any money on this seat I would rather find a better seat.

I'd love to get some sport seats from Yaris S. As far as "RS" seats, do you mean the bona-fide RS seats from Canada? Are they different than the sport seats in the S?
I don't want to get rid of my side airbags, so I'd need the upgraded S or RS seats (I guess).

I think the Clazzio seat covers add a little more to the yaris seats as far as support.

My recently bought sedan seriously lacks the stiff lumbar support. (My wifey drives the Civic, and I love the firmness that seat offers in the lumbar region).
I love my Y and seriously scouting for a professional solution or a permanent solution to support the lower back - from changing seats to a professional auto upholsterer etc. Currently using a microsuede seat cushion from Wal-Mart :-(. Any people with lumbar support issues with their front seat, how are you dealing with it and what are your permanent solutions currently? Thanks for the feedback. |

my issue with the seat is the fact the bottom part is too short - i.e. lack of thigh support. That is a pretty common problem in small cars as putting in a full size squab costs more and makes the car look less roomy in the showroom. Only after buying the car and living with it awhile does the problem really become clear. In europe the little cars come with the biggest seat they can stuff in there in most superminis because europeans know small cars well enough to understand that comfort is more than the appearance of roominess. When I rent a small car in europe I'm always amazed at the difference in seat comfort with the longer seat bottom.

Yeah after driving this car for a few months I noticed the mid back has too much support and the lumber has nothing. I bought this car to save me money on fuel but I find myself driving my jeep more often now because I cant stand the seat. its pretty bad when wrangler is more comfortable than a car, I'm thinking about selling it and buying a truck for my wife to drive and I'll take my jetta back.

when I was looking for a new car , I test drived serveral hatch backs and
sedans, 2008 model years, what I noticed is the sedan had firmer seats better back support and for me a better driver posistion. That is one of the main reasons I got the sedan, plus there was no roofrack system for the hatchback at the time, which was very important to me, besides that I really like the hatchback. |

Passenger seat mod
I'd like to gain some room behind the passenger seat of my 3 door by either modifying the track to allow the P seat to slide more forward, or by swapping out the seat/s for models that have longer, friendlier tracks. The better seats that have been mentioned in this thread are appealing. The reason for all of this is that I'd like to sleep behind the P seat when I'm on road trips, and for that I need another 6 in. or so. Also, what should I do during this work so that I don't screw up the air bag wiring that's under the P seat. I'm a carpenter who's good with tools, but I have very little DIY CAR experience. Thanks, ZZ
