07 Yaris?

I'm looking at getting a car because my jeep is a fuel hog. I drive about 80 miles a day and my jeep gets about 15 mpg HIGHWAY. Yeah, that bad.

So, I found this yaris on a local dealer's website.

It's a hatch, 130k miles, 5 speed.

They are asking $6990 for it. Good deal?

What should I be looking for? Common problems?

Looks like, according to KBB, the fair purchase price is right around $5400. I might have to go in with a printout and see if I can haggle them down.

130K is reasonable for a Yaris. $6000 max would seem about right for a base 5 speed with that mileage.

The main thing to check is the tranny, as aggressively driven MTs will experience worn syncros and will be grindy between gears.

If you are in part of the country where salt is used, then another thing to check is the bolts on the front subframe. See the link below and specifically page 18 for the ramifications of salt on the A-arm bolts.

Sounds good. Pretty much normal stuff.

I've been working on cars my whole life and I'm going.to school for diesel mechanics so I have a pretty good understanding of how it all works. I was just wondering if there are any common problems to the yaris.

The two mentioned above, water pumps failing due to over-tightened belt and stinky A/C (due to people not installing the cabin air filter and stuff mixing with the condensate and becoming a cesspool in the A/C box) are really the only common issues.

Overall they are extremely reliable vehicles.
