yea, so am i. i saw how to take the oil pump out, its a nightmare.

i just gotta go get some simple green now, and scrub my parking space at my building. there are oil spots all over it . mostly from my VW and from the 2 times i changed the oil here (not supposed to)

but now that i look, that sending unit was leaking pretty bad.

i am wondering why though. could it have ben the Amsoil? im thinking not. that was the first time i used a 100% PAO based oil, and suddenly the first time i have had an oil system failure in a vehicle.... who knows.

Just the sensor was bad. Thats all. However....there is no reason to use synthetic oil. It wont make your engine last any longer or make the mileage significantly better. The only real reason to use it is if you live where it gets REALLY cold in winter...like below 20 degree F for any lenth of time. And I see you live in AK! Synth will do a enough of a better job of helping your engine start in those conditions to make it worth while.

yah thats why i use it.

i wont be using a pure PAO anymore. gonna use penn plat, or try out this new Ultra.

this winter was pretty mild, never got below -1* F. usually in january/february it gets down as low as -19*F at night, and tops out at 1 or 2 in the day.

that didnt happen this year thankfully!

Which PAO based oils? And do you have a reference for this?

It was from a Penzoil Ultra q&A on BITOG with Shell lubrication engineers and ChemE. I saw this on my M1 0w-30 which is 70-80% PAo per the korean MSDS. I will go to Mobil Clean 7500 next OCI. This type of info will be sparse and continue to be hidden in the secretive hall of big oil research. If I get the link I'll PM you, Steve. Scary stuff to me.

Do you mean that bit of Shell marketing material oddly linked from the BITOG main page recently?

The one in which 55 questions were "answered" without actually saying anything?

I didn't notice any mention of ethanol dilution in that, though.
