Easiest way to see what the problem is then, is to get an OBD reader and see what the code it pulls out is.

It's a device that plugs into a port (not sure where on the Yaris it is since I haven't had the need to hook it up to one yet) that will read what the car's computer is saying the problem is. It'll come out as a number code, which you can then post here if you can't find it online.

For example, my GTI threw a code saying that there was carbon build up in the intake, which was what was causing the CEL.

did they re install the sensor by the cat , thats more than likely the cause of your cel,
it's eithier not installed or it is getting to much excuast gases arrond it .
there was a couple of threads on here about
it before the hack of 2008, i beleave Cali yaris (Grarm - Micro image) has the part for sale to fix the problem .
Or if you are lucky someone else who has done this will forward you the infoon how to make the part required.

When I got a CEL I took it to the local Autozone (national car part store) and they had the reader and were able to hook it up and tell me what the error was. Don't know if they have Autozone or Advanced Autoparts there...

Doesn't he just need an anti-fouler for the O2 sensor?

You can reset the CEL by disconnecting the battery for a few seconds. That does not tell you what's going on, though!

If they don't, they don't know what they're doing, it's just an extender for the O2 sensor.
