Question Fan Knob Problem

So I'm having a problem with my 2012 Yaris LE. My fan speed is stuck on 4. My air conditioner and heating, and defrosting work just fine. The knob itself still clicks along fine, however it remains stuck on max blowing power.

I'm not sure at this point if the problem is electrical, mechanical or what. For now because of the noise I unplugged the back of that knob.

That's all the info that I know, any help would be greatly appreciated!

i would assume the circuit inside the switch is shorted somehow--i think mechanically since 0 (turn off) still works. and since blowers 1, 2 and 3 are resistor-filled circuits, as compared to 4 which is a direct connection with the ground. and that's because the blower resistor is separate from the switch mechanism, which is where the power should run through when in 1, 2 and 3. hope it makes sense.

this is just at the top of my head, im no guru by any chance.

So the 0 setting doesn't work. 0,1,2,3,4 all act like 4 when it's plugged in.

To find out where the problem is you can bypass the switch:

Jump the grey and white/black wires together and the fan should come on at the lowest setting.

Jump those two together and also Light blue for speed 2.

Jump those two together and also green for speed 3.

Jump those two together and also violet for high.

Yes. You could insert some small pieces of wire into the terminals for those wires and then touch the other ends together to "jump" or "short" them together.
