Buy a new Yaris or wait till 2010

I have the itch for a new car. I currently drive a 1999 Dodge intrepid with 145,000 and I'm set on the Black 5 dr Hb

Got a written quote from the dealer for $15,671 out the doorwhich included Power windows, locks, cold weather package, air, and all the good stuff.

I saw some talk here regarding an updated 2010 model coming out later this year that improves on the car (mileage and anything else?). Does anyone have any info on this, or if it is true. Is it worth waiting?

Also I read on Jalopnik that toyota will be offering larger rebates on its cars. Currently in Illinois, the rebate is only $500 and for recent college grad...anyone think it will go lower?

Thanks for your help and enjoy reading about all of your love for these little cars.

Toyota is starting to hurt for sales right now just like everybody else...I'm more than willing to bet that they'll com way off that price

If you don't NEED, you should wait and you'll be glad you did, IMO.

if your Intrepid lasted that long it must be the 3.2 motor , or 3.5

sadly i once had the 2.7 it didn't make past 30k!

Well Toyota really is not going to go to far since the Yaris holds the LOWEST profit margin for the dealer. Take that price and shop it at another dealer but they are not as hungry as you think.

Toyota does a 5 year cycle on cars so do not anticipate any major changes until 2012 on the US Toyota......

The pure pleasure from the Yaris will make up for the fact you did it as compared to your present car.

Actually the intrepid is the 2.7l (worst engine ever made). Got it 4-5 years ago and it had 75 k on it.
Could have been a new engine. Thats why I'm expecting this one to go soon.

I did shop that price around, but other dealers replied that they couldn't meet/beat that price. Then I saw this link and thinking hey, could it get any better?

http://jalopnik.com/5134444/toyota-o...for-first-time

I know I "should" wait to buy a car...I'm 25 y/old. Always had beaters that I used for a few years and got rid of

+1. If you're trying to save a few bucks and just need basic transportation, then getting one now would be a good idea. Also, it's pretty much the end of the month, which means dealers need to make their sales quota. Seeing as how they're more desperate to sell than usual (because of the recession), you should get an even better deal if you go in this week

If you can afford it I would take the opportunity. I doubt that the 5 dr would go much cheaper than that. They might known a couple hundred off if you are very lucky, but don't count on it. As it was mentioned this car is the least in their profit margin which does not equate to much for wiggle room, unless you are in an area where sales a slumping very very badly. You will start saving money just on fuel and maintenance in the first month over the Intrepid anyway not to mention having a solid warrantied vehicle.

I have heard rumors of an all new Yaris for 2010. The current Yaris dates to 2005, correct? It was already available in foreign markets before being brought to the US in 2006. I've heard the new Toyota Aygo might make it to US in 2010 rebadged as a new Yaris. This is all rumor from car guys who love to spread rumors.

This sounds like all new Yaris, since they're talking about body size being bigger.

The benefits of a new car are trouble free miles. The dodge might start to need things in the next year or so. Radiator, breaks, boots, transmission work are a few items that might start costing money. Did they offer a trade in quote on your car?

Trade in...haha. I didnt even bother asking Kbb says ill get about 300 or so

I'm almost certain I have a leak in the radiator.

and I am positive I can sell it for 1200-1000 in the condition that it is in.

Dad does own a mechanic shop though...

Oh tough decisions.

I would have looked at the 08, but they don't have the 4 dr hatch for my fold down seats for my Puppy.

And I plan on having a little rugrat around in the next 3-4 years, but neither here nor there..

What is this someone said about the 1.33 liter engine. I really don't care about performance. As long as it can do 75-80 max on the highway and get me on the road merging I am happy (and hoping for 35 mpg average)

Thanks for the advice everyone

**oh and taxes would be $1097.00 in (IL)**

Wow, then you're quoted for below dealer invoice.
That's amazing.
5dr LB with just power package is $14,782 dealer invoice.
Is that price after $1000 rebate or something?
