Oil Analysis Results 2011 Yaris
Here is the oil analysis results of my wife's 2011 Yaris 3dr automatic. When we took delivery in early april, the car had 6 miles on it.
Drove it home a couple miles away from the dealer and let it cool overnight. I started the engine twice and held at high idle speed in the next two days just to obtain two more complete heat cycles then on the 3rd day , I took the car out into the country back roads to do a series of moderate rpm accel-decel coast downs to load and help seat the rings early by holding the transmission in a lower gears. At 20 total miles when arriving home the factory fill oil and factory oil filter was drained overnight then reused the factory filter and refilled with Synergyn 3w-30 synthetic . 1500 even miles on the car- 1480 on the oil in 7 months use. During that period it was purposely ran 8 times to redline in 1st -2nd gear from a stop along the interstate hwy and was used for 4- 60 mile round trips on an interstate highway with ambient temps in the 100-110 range . The rest of the miles were primarily shorter city trips. I refilled with Synergyn 0w-20 which is a similar formulation and will post the results in 6 months or so. A Walmart Supertech filter was used this go around. The longish post about the type usage during this period since new was provided to help understand the usage of the car during this oil interval. Here's the results; Moly 98 Boron 115 Magnesium 19 Calcium 2939 Phosphorus 1255 Zinc 1444 Si- 58 Vi 100c 10.1 Wear metals Iron- 8 Aluminum - 4 Copper - 16 All else was zero except a trace of manganese from the fuel used. I expect the Si and copper to trend down over time and miles when full break-in is achieved. There wasn't enough time or miles on this interval to have need for checking TBN . |

Since I do not race and continually tear down and rebuild my motor,
and I simply follow manufacturer recommendations, I do my own used oil analysis. I checked my dipstick... Yep, it's oil. Last edited by A-Dingo-Ate-My-Baby; 11-01-2011 at 07:06 AM. |

7 months on the oil?! I dont care if it did have 1480 miles, Thats alot of time for moisture to collect. I personally wouldnt want oil sitting that long in the car, unless of course the car was in storage.
