lol, a yaris with a hitch looks funny..... and seeing a yaris pulling something that could propably be pulling it is priceless. anyways, i personally like the bike racks that strap onto the rear hatch or trunk. they are universal and fit any car or truck. thats personally the way i would go, a yaris with a hitch or roof rack looks too funny to me.
mind you, the roof rack that can be completly removed is very interesting. toyota tried to sell me a built on roof rack

I got a Curt 11050
-had to bend the unused metal tab in the middle under the car -popped 2 under bumper clips, bent the bumper tabs down, and dremeled off another unused bumper tab on the right side near the exhaust (this one was blocking the hitch bar when bolted up). bolted up the Curt, using a pump jack to press it fully upward (didn't need it, but holding 26 lbs with one finger whist doing bolts was a pain to get the last mm of snugness. -put bumper clips back got it on, it is pretty well hidden under there. it is actually a perfect fit. -got a Yakima double down rack, it fits right on no problems whatsoever |

after pondering all options, I decided a curt 11050 and Yakima double-down was
the best possible rack setup [the conspicuity tape, I added. someone hits my rack they have no excuse. got hit 3 times on the 4runner over 10 years...idiots not seeing the rack and wanting to get all up ons...] pics finally |

i've currently got a yakima roof rack for the sedan, but i've been wanting to experiment with it on my liftback. i know thule makes a stretch kit version so you can mount larger items on top(i have a short cargo box i use for extra hauling sometimes). i picked up a yakima stretch kit yesterday super-cheap($10-normally $100+) and i figure it's worth a try to see if i can get it to work. i may have to buy another pair of q-clips to get it to fit and i realize yakima doesn't recommend a roof rack for the liftback, but thule makes the exact same stuff and they have a couple systems that work! i'll take pictures if it works - we may have a new(unauthorized) way to haul stuff!!!!!!!!

It's a fold down style plugged into a receiver hitch.

sorry, i haven't tried yet(too cold). it's actually in the 50's this weekend so i might give it a shot if i have the time, but first i need to wash/wax/detail before i do anything else! it looks the same as the thule kit, but i'm going to have to guess on the clips(if the same ones for the sedan don't fit) because yakima doesn't recommend it and they aren't providing information on how to make this work
