The TOYOTA parts department . Some are cheaper than others . Sometimes they'll match other parts department prices . Can do it over the phone . One time they gave us free washers with the oil filters at $3.50 each . Depends on what kind of day they had or whom waits on you . Good Luck .

2008 YARIS sedan : 3 qts. and 22 ounces of SHELL conventional and new TOYO oil filter on 7/03 . Decided to pour the used oil from the pan and oil filter into empty 4 quart oil jug . There was little over 3 quarts in it . Figure around 3/4 quart of oil remains in the engine .

Mobil1 5W-30 Extended Performance and a K&N Gold oil filter for another 15k mile drain interval. Nothing on the magnetic drain plug.

Also changed the transmission fluid for the 2nd time, again with Redline MT-90. Good for another 50k miles.

Ya, I gave up on trying to guess how much I burn/left in the engine from looking at the leftovers. Too much sticks to the pan/filter/funnel/jugs and spills to get anywhere close to accurate.

[QUOTE=Ryude;489025]Toyota recently released a press note saying that over the next year they will start to recommend 0w-20 synthetic oil across several models, due to lower emissions and higher efficiency. I wonder if the yaris will be one of them?[/QUOTE

They can recommend all they want!...my manuel and oil cap states 5w-30 and thats exactly what will go into the little dude!.Sounds as if the illusterious EPA is at it again with their rediculous standards.0w-20,please....more efficient, less emissions!.Gee,all that crap THEY have been mandating for decades apparently isn't working if we still have "problems".They should be putting regs on Volcanos, their private jets etc, etc, etc,

hey, if toyota can recommend 0w-20, i don't see anything wrong with putting it in my yaris. if there's an added benefit for fuel economy and emissions, so be it. that's what i'm going to be using.

Don't believe everything they print 1812.....it isn't beneficial to your engine.

Washers? i think my oil pan drain plug already has a washer made into it, well since i didn't do the first OC on the car, i don't really know if it came with a washer. Does washers make it seal better?

from the picture i provided above, my plug looks like that except without that silver washer...

yes , there's a washer needed for a better seal and easier removal of the drain plug . There are plastic and paper like washers available . I've been using the pressed paper washers . Can be used a few times .
