Got hit from behind at Stop sign...

After just two TWO!!! hours installing the UR 23mm sway bar and feeling all happy about going to bowling with friends, some idiot rear ends me at a stop sign....

Video of incident to follow..
My back hurts now...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V41HW4ooGFA for video, i made it longer to get you thinking when it will happen.

Photos:

2/8 Update, got a few qoutes from bodyshops, after seeing the hatch opened...to my dismay theres a lot of work that i cant do, not just replace the bumper cover, the area where the hatch latches onto the car (car side) is bent, im gonna let body shop take care of the work, not worth it on a 9 month old car to not fix everything. Gotta wait for insurance to send a person out to do estimate at body shop.

2/24 Car in the shop, got estimate from other guy's insurance: Esurance. was for $1,700 on a visual inspection no take off. Shop needed more money to replace MORE things, damage was worse than i thought, not just not being able to close the hatch. Something about my rear frame, and for some reason insurance lady told me headlight...i think she meant tail light but ironically if she meant headlight i need the change, i messed up the reflector a little bit. So i think final bill would be like $2,500. Now i have to wait, im driving my first car, a '91 corolla station wagon. Notes: the suspension on this STOCK wagon is better than the Stock yaris...

3/4 Picked up car. Final Cost of repairs came out to a whopping $4116.24 OMG.

I am gonna pushed them to replace my other tail light, they replaced one but the other is obviously push in at the bottom (gaps arent uniform) and they need to order 2 bumper clips... Least i got my car back, and i will continue to make them make the insurance company pay for repairs till i am satisfied with the condition of a 9 month old car. Also i noticed that the hatch handle pops in and out (body panel flexs), i dont believe this was the case before crash.

That totally sucks. Make sure you find a really good body shop.

bumper is cracked on both sides,

im thinking i could get me a 08 bumper o get tail lights, plus i dont have to see those ugly accents on the rear. Funny is I was thinking that only way i could get a new bumper (after getting it gouged a little 2 weeks after owning) was to get hit. i laugh now.

or some other cool bumper hehe

What bad luck. At least you're okay and so is the rest of the car.

I guess now would be a good time to do an inquiry on a JDM bumper

Not sure about my law suit comment now since you both said you're both fine.

But yeah, have his insurance send you a check for the estimated repairs, and then go get a bumper that you want. Also make sure there are no frame damage, and that the crash cushion (not sure what it's called) is still intact, if not, you need to get that replaced as well.

Thats not so bad i was thinking the rear end was smashed completely. New bumper for sure and possibly bumper support. Id definately get a 08 bumper now so you have more options on lights.

If you need help finding a good body shop i know one in san jose thats pretty cheap. He charged me 50 to paint my vios grill. You could probally purchase a used bumper on ebay for cheap and just have it painted and put it on yourself and pocket the leftover cash. You should get 3 estimates from bodyshops im guessing around 700-900 in repair. Cost you maybe 300 to fix it yourself and you could make around 500 cash leftover for mods.

When i had my 240 about 11 years ago someone put a huge dent in the side of the car. Insurance gave me 1300 to repair it. I just deposited the check in the bank and just lived with the dent.

i know this is a bad thing.. but you could always get ur bodyshop to make a quote but insted of putting the stock bumper.. use insurances money to buy a body kit bumper and then all u need to do is put is the rest for side skirts and front bumper?? lol
