Squeaky Transmission? 5MT

I have a strange occurrence where my Transmission squeaks just the slightest little bit when going into and out of gear...mostly 3rd and 4th. I originally thought it was my brakes or someone elses brakes. It doesn't happen every time though either. Can anyone tell me what is going on?

lube this part. if you look under the hood at your linkage move this part side to side and lube. white lithium grease in the spray can works great.

Props to KOU big time. I havent got the lithium grease in a spray can yet but just squirting some WD-40 where you showed in your pics made the squeek disappear and noticably easier shifting instantly!! I sprayed there and every adjacent pivot point I could reach and the result was immediate. Actually more difference that changing to MT-90 for shifts per se. Thanks bud!

Many thanks. Searched online for a cure, found this post and joined the forum. Lubed the linkage joint with dri slide (motorcycle stuff) and the squeak is gone.

Guys, I'm convinced this is my issue, but I cannot for the life of me find this part. I have an 07 Yaris (UK). Can someone show me where I'll find this in my engine bay?

Thanks kou! I've learned to live with the squeak but hopefully this DIY will kill it. Any brand recommendation for a "white lithium grease in the spray can"?

no special brand its just easier with the can,it should come with a little red straw for the nozzle. spray in the gap between the two parts.it moves side to side when going 3-4.i changed the pic slightly so you can see where to spray exactly.

spray in the two little yellow marks inside the circle and the noise should go away.

I went ahead and bought some of the before mentioned lube from advance auto for about $3. I sprayed some on each linkage just to make sure. There is no squeak anymore. You may need to take out the air box and battery tray to be able to lube everything up...unless you are Mr. Fantastic. ^^ Great advice! I may spray this on some suspension bushings as well...

my personal toyota mechanic told me to take the shift linkage out and grease the hell out of it. but i got lazy and never did it. haha but thanks, i'll shoot some grease to that part see how it goes.

Now i see where the battery GND is!

You may wanna to try a dry moly lube so you don't collect any sand if you live in areas where the roads are sanded
