Question Change automatic to Manual

is that possible? yes I know it is.

What part will I need to buy to do that? give names and a rough estimate, and lets say in roughly 2 years from now when my automatic goes bad.

Changing transmissions?

Don't bother... The transmission, modifications, installation, impracticality and the computers that control moderns cars would render the retrofit so expensive and difficult, that you may as well get a new (or used) 5 speed Yaris.

Making it a semi-automatic transmission would be easier, but still a feat

There are many names for it... It's basically an automatic, except you tell it when to shift (with paddle shifters or the like).

Yes their is a semi automatic for the yaris. I believe it comes with the 1.3 and 1.4 liter engines. I am positive on the 1.3 because I have seen it before, in fact here is the link. The picture is kind of hard to see but it's their. As for being swappable don't know, but will find out what tranny it is soon, and if it is possible..

Why would your automatic go bad in 2 years? Toyota autos. last as long as their engines.

With a little more research that it the Toyota MMT Transmission. The only tranny I know that will fit with our motor is the c160 ae11 black top with the 6spd. Still researching though.!!

Out of all the cars I've ever had, only had to rebuild one automatic (& the car had been sitting for 2 years prior to the rebuild). However... I've spent a small fortune on clutch/pressure plate/t-o bearings for the manuals I've had.
